Here you will find out what makes our cutting boards different and more durable than the rest.
It makes perfect sense that the better a cutting board is constructed, the longer it will last. Well, what goes into a making a long lasting board anyway?
Types of Glues
We at Uniquecuttingboards.com use only the best adhesives for our products. We use waterproof glues made by Franklin International. Titebond III is one of the best glues on the market. The Food & Drug Administration (F.D.A.) approves it for indirect food contact.
Other makers of cutting boards use cheaper forms of PVA glue. Glues rated as weather-proof or water-resistant are not to our standards. Your cutting board is going to get wet, so why not have a glue that is rated 100% waterproof!
Joints
The way the wood in your cutting board is joined is very important! The more glue surface you have, the stronger the wood joint. Glue joints and spline joints are used in the creation of the main cutting surface. These joints provide at least 50% more glue contact versus standard butt joints. Butt joints are nothing more than two flat wood edges touching (with glue in the middle). Most boards constructed this way will fail a lot faster than those made with either splines or glue joints.
The Glue Joint:
Incredibly strong joinery. The amount of glue surface is a lot more than standard butt joints. This joint resists pull & shear forces. Other added features are: self-aligning, elegant style, and added moisture resistance.
The Spline Joint:
A butt joint with added wood in the middle. It too is self-aligning and provides greater glue surface than standard butt joinery. Its attractive appearance is enhanced by the addition of contrasting hardwoods.
Hardware
The hardware used in our boards is second to none. All cutting board components are made to stand the test of time (including water). High-grade stainless steel screws and quality rubber feet for non-slip operation--as well as air circulation. With rubber feet, the wood can breathe all-around; it prevents moisture from getting trapped underneath!

Critical Details
A lot of cutting board manufacturers have add-on features that should really be standard. Finger pulls and handles (either metal or cut into the wood itself), come on every board produced--all you have to do is mention what type of handle you would like (or if you do not want any handle, that's okay too)! At no extra charge! Why pay for something that you should not have to. Maneuvering and functionality of the board is made easier by such simple additions.
A common finger pull mortised into the edge of the board. This little detail makes moving your cuttingboard around so much easier.
